Obviously anyone who comes to us for a session is asked if they are happy for us to share their images, that fact doesn't change if you are coming in as part of our 'Embrace Your Body' project. This client preferred for her images to remain private, but wanted to share her experience.
When she first got in contact with us, she told us "I want to learn to embrace my body, and be truly confident in my skin again. This past year has left me feeling numb and dismally out of control. I would be so grateful for an opportunity to reset my thinking and take ownership of my circumstances and feel more empowered."
How did you feel about your body before your session?
"I was feeling somewhat self-conscious and ashamed of my body. I was also feeling disappointed that I wasn't really loving my body the way it deserved to be."
How did you feel about the session itself on the day?
"I felt anxious at first, but the warm atmosphere (created by you, Robin, Elise, and Kristina) really put me at ease. I could really feel myself becoming more confident about my body and truly embracing all my curves during the session."
Did you start to feel nervous about coming back to see your photos, after the session?
"I was really excited to see the wonderful work that Robin had done, but was also thinking I would probably be quite critical of my own appearance. "
How are you feeling about yourself now that you've seen your photos?
"Seeing my photos was quite an out of body experience: I felt deep empathy and appreciation for the person on the screen and in the pictures. I felt a renewed sense of self-love and peace. Thank you for making that possible!"
Is there anything else you could say to someone who's feeling apprehensive coming along for their own session?
"Please give yourself the gift of having this truly trans-formative experience. It is such a safe space in which to make yourself vulnerable, learn to embrace your body, and start to renew your mind about your value (which is truly empowering)!"
The Embrace Your Body Project is all about empowering women to love themselves and their bodies, as they are, right now.
It's about embracing our bodies, whatever flaws we may think we have, and accepting ourselves.
It's about showing that nobody is perfect, but that we are all beautiful in our imperfections.
And it's about sharing that experience with other women, to help them on their journey to body confidence.
