Clair: Feeling Like a Goddess Again
Clair had spent years avoiding her reflection, feeling disconnected from the version of herself she once loved. “Apart from my ex-husband, no one had seen my stomach since my C-section. It impacts me as to how I feel about having another relationship—it worries me about being intimate with anyone.”
But her journey with WomenVisible - The 50 Project gave her the confidence to embrace her femininity again. “It’s had a significant impact. I feel like a ‘Goddess.’ I’m walking around even to the local Co-op with my head held high.”
Clair’s rediscovery of her beauty wasn’t about fitting into a societal mold—it was about seeing herself in her own power.
Debbie M: Changing How She Sees Ageing
For Debbie M, ageing had felt like a slow decline. “I felt that it was all downhill from here, in that my body and looks have passed their peak.”
Her portrait session was an opportunity to change her internal narrative "I saw taking part in the WomenVisible 50 project, as an opportunity to reclaim a look of femininity and boost my confidence, especially as I hit 60 this year."
After her portrait session, she was struck by how differently she saw herself. “I didn’t realise I could look like that! It’s changed how I feel about ageing.”
Her experience reminded her that confidence isn’t about looking younger—it’s about seeing ourselves with appreciation and kindness at every stage of life.
Body Confidence is a Journey
Sheila, T, Clair, and Debbie show us that body confidence isn’t a fixed destination—it’s a process of self-acceptance, appreciation, and learning to see ourselves in a new way. Whether it’s celebrating strength, embracing change, reclaiming femininity, or shifting how we view ageing, body confidence is about choosing to love ourselves exactly as we are.
